We knew very little about grief before July 4, 2012.  That day held so much promise as we packed a picnic lunch and headed to our houseboat for fun on the water.  Just a few hours later, our lives were forever changed when Nate (Kelly's son, my grandson) was electrocuted along with his friend, Noah, while swimming near the boat.  The incident made national news, and our faith was pushed to the limit in the days and weeks and months that followed.  Even now, eight years later, it permeates everything we do, every breath we take. The posts below were written at different stages of our grief and communicate the overarching fact that the road is long and hard--and the deeper the love, the deeper the pain.
